Mariner Boating Holidays will operate the Croatia Yacht Rally from September 11-25 2010 using a fleet of identical Dufour 44.5 yachts, set up for speed but also built for cruising in comfort with 3 double cabins. Even in charter mode the 44.5 has tri-optimal spectra sails on a three spreader rig, deep draft lead keel and folding propeller. Of course the racing is "not serious" but the fact that the yachts have the same speed makes for a lot of fun along the way.
The rally program takes place against a back drop of the islands of the Dalmatian coast of Croatia and offers a lay day between each of a series of 6 passage races and the stops along the way offer amazing scenery, fascinating history an interesting cuisine and hospitable locals.
Yachting Victoria is conducting a raffle to raise money for disadvantaged & special needs children and when is the need greater than around Xmas. Ten dollars will buy a ticket in the raffle and the winning ticket to be drawn at the end of the Variety Splash Rally in February will provide international flights for two, two weeks on a participating yacht, three nights hotel accommodation and a host of other extras, with a value of $15,000.
