The three-day Variety Splash will be held between Thursday 25th February to Saturday 27th February 2010 and follow a new course in 2010 – Docklands to Sandringham; Sandringham to Geelong; Geelong to Docklands – to cater for growing participation in the popular event.
The Variety Splash is similar in style to the infamous Variety Bash, where the focus is firmly placed on having fun. As with all Variety events, the Splash too has a serious side. Its primary objective is to raise money for children in our community with a wide range of special needs.
The money raised goes towards Sunshine Coaches (minibuses) for children’s organisations, Liberty Wheelchair Swings for council playgrounds, specialist communication devices such as Dynavox machines, mobility equipment like wheelchairs and Second Skin Splints, neo-natal transport ambulances, and public education campaigns.
Variety Victoria along with Yachting Victoria, Parks Victoria and Marine Safety Victoria, opened The Boatshed on Albert Park Lake in June 2008 in order to allow children of all ages and abilities access to the sport which we love. Variety’s continued support of Yachting Victoria will allow hundreds more children a safe introduction into the sport of sailing.
By taking part in this wonderful social event, not only will you have the time of your life but also you will be instrumental in helping bring sunshine into the lives of many very special children.
